Public Transportation

Boston and Cambridge are serviced by the MBTA, which has extensive service throughout the city and surrounding areas. The MBTA includes the Commuter Rail (trains, sometimes called the Purple Line), subway (other colored lines, usually called the “T”), and buses.

Transportation runs seven days per week, but is NOT a 24-hour service. Note that the T runs from approximately 6 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., and buses stop running around 2 a.m. Taxis are prevalent and may be picked up at taxi stands or hailed on the street.
